Shafiqur president, Farida gen secy of JPC

Staff Correspondent: Senior Journalist Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and Farida Yasmin were elected president and general secretary respectively of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) on Saturday.
Shafiqur Rahman got 672 votes while his nearest contester MA Aziz got 279 votes. Besides, Farida Yasmin, 439 votes and her nearest candidate Kader Goni got 352 votes.
The other winners are- Senior Vice-President Saiful Alam and Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary Shahed Chowdhury and Elias Khan, Treasurer Kartik Chatterjee.
Earlier, the voting in Jatiya Press Club managing committee election for the 2017-18 tenure started at 9:00am and continued till 5:00pm.
